OUR SPORT
Figure skating is a "blue ribbon" Winter Olympic sport and in NSW, we have been producing world class skaters since the early 1950s! Since the establishment of the NSW Ice Skating Association (NSWISA), NSW has been the "Premier State" in figure skating, producing more international, World Championship and Olympic representatives than any other State.
THE SKATERS
For our Association, it's all about the skaters. We are proud to be an athlete-centric organisation focussing on supporting skaters across all disciplines - in Singles, Pairs, Dance, Synchronized Teams skating and Theatre on Ice.
OUR ROLE
As an affiliated a member of the National Federation (Ice Skating Australia), NSWISA - provides broad-ranging services to its members. Amongst many other activities, it:
- provides qualified judges and conducts tests of skaters as they develop through the sport;
- holds competitions and championship events each year;
- coordinates and officiates at Club competitions and championships across the State;
- runs training and development camps and provides funding through scholarships and subsidies.
